When I think peppercorn sauce, my mind immediately jumps to steak. Oh how I love a nice New York striploin in a peppercorn sauce. But when I browsed through the recipes on the Olivieri website, I saw something that made me think again – a recipe for Sweet Peppercorn Chicken. Chicken breasts smothered in Olivieri Peppercorn sauce, honey and orange juice? Yum. That is on the list for this weekend.
But I’m trying to include at least one fish meal in our diet each week, so tonight I opted for the White Wine sauce over some pan-fried cod. I coated the cod fillets in some flour, salt & pepper, then pan-fried in a little olive oil over medium-high heat until done. I tossed in some tomatoes to cook with the fish, and heated the sauce in a microwave-safe bowl for about 3 minutes. The result – golden fish with a creamy mushroom and white wine sauce over top. The taste was delicious! The sauce is nicely flavourful, not overpowering for the fish at all, just a great complement. And I love how gourmet this meal felt, even if it took only about 15 minutes to get on the table.
On the topic of creamy sauces, Little Boo has recently developed a deep love for Alfredo pasta, so I decided to try another sauce too, the Olivieri Alfredo sauce. I paired it on the weekend with one of our favourite fresh pastas – Olivieri Chicken, Bacon and Cheese Sacchettini – and a loaf of Demspter’s Oven Fresh white baguettes. I added a handful of store-bought salad mix with some grape tomatoes, and had a delicious & impressive-looking meal on the table in less than 20 minutes. Again, perfect for a busy week night!
